I'm Jacquie Thomas.

I'm a civil litigator. I've practiced in Georgia since 2017, at large and small firms, and I opened my own practice to give clients a more direct and flexible approach to legal representation.

The long way to East Cobb

I grew up in Michigan. Since 2006 I've lived in the Southeast: college and law school in Tallahassee, a federal clerkship in Jacksonville, litigation in Atlanta, and now my own practice in East Cobb.

  1. Where I'm from

    Michigan

    That's where I grew up. In 2006 I moved south for college, and I've lived in the Southeast ever since.

  2. 2006 to 2014

    Tallahassee

    Florida State University, twice. I earned my B.A. in Political Science and French, then stayed for law school at the FSU College of Law, where I was editor-in-chief of the Law Review.

    Jacksonville

    I clerked for the Hon. Harvey E. Schlesinger of the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida. A judicial law clerk works in the judge's chambers, on the cases in front of the court.

  4. 2017

    Atlanta

    I moved to Atlanta in 2017, joined the Georgia Bar, and have practiced civil litigation here ever since: at large and small firms, for individuals and businesses, in state and federal court.

  5. 2024

    East Cobb

    In 2024 I moved to East Cobb. J. Thomas Law LLC is my own practice. I represent individuals and businesses across Marietta, Metro Atlanta and North Georgia, by video or in person by appointment.

That's how I describe the way I work. Sometimes that means going to court. Sometimes it means finding the practical way through.

I act as a trusted advisor to my clients, with strategic counsel on potential and ongoing litigation risks and demands. I've practiced civil litigation at both large and small law firms, and I started J. Thomas Law to give my clients a more direct and flexible approach. Day to day, that means:
